How to use the band name generator
- Pick a genre, or leave it on Random for a mix of styles.
- Choose a length: one word for a punchy name, two or three words for something more descriptive.
- Optionally type your own word to build names around it.
- Press Generate band names until something clicks. Tap the heart to keep a name on your shortlist and the copy icon to copy it.
Rock band name ideas
Rock names lean on motion, electricity and a little danger: highways, engines, wolves, thunder. Two-word names with a strong adjective work well, and a leading “The” still sounds natural here. A few the generator came up with: Electric Highways, The Restless Comets, Velvet Outlaws, Redline.
Metal band name ideas
Metal, heavy metal and death metal names go dark and mythic: thrones, serpents, cathedrals, frost and fire. Compound single words are a metal tradition, and they are easy to fit into a logo. Examples: Frostgrave, Obsidian Throne, Requiem of Ravens, Skullforge. For black metal and metalcore, choose Metal and add your own word for a more personal twist.
K-pop band name ideas
K-pop group names are short, bright and easy to chant: one word in capitals, often with a number or a letter attached, or a two-word phrase about stars and light. They also need to work in every language the fans speak. Examples: LUMINA, NOVA 9, Starry Bloom, ZENITH. Boy band names follow a similar rule with a warmer feel: Hometown Heroes, Five Knights, Skyline.
Punk, emo and grunge band names
Punk names are blunt and a bit rude: The Rotten Landlords, Dropkick. Emo names are nostalgic and specific, like a line from a diary: Paper Streetlights, Sleepless Sundays. Grunge sits in between, murky and lo-fi: Sour Basement, Overcast.
Indie, country, goth and funny names
- Indie: soft, whimsical imagery such as Tiny Lanterns or Marigold.
- Country: roads, boots and small towns, such as Dusty Ramblers or Tailgate.
- Goth: moonlight, lace and ravens, such as Pale Lilies or Nightshade.
- Funny: for cover bands, side projects or a group chat, such as The Overcooked Waffles or Napsody.
How to choose a band name that lasts
Make a shortlist of five and live with it for a few days. Say each name out loud as if a radio host were introducing you, write it as a logo, and imagine it on a festival poster next to bigger acts. Then run the practical checks:
- Searchable: a name that is also an everyday word will be buried in search results.
- Available: check streaming services, social handles, a .com or .band domain, and the trademark database.
- Spellable: if people mishear it, they will not find you.
- Future-proof: avoid jokes or references that will feel dated in two years if the band takes off.
Got a name? Release like a real band
Once the name is set, the first release needs visuals. Find the tempo and key of your track with the BPM & Key Finder, make a looping cover for Spotify with the Spotify Canvas Maker, and when you are ready for a full video, AIMusicVideoGen turns your song and one photo of the singer into a lip-synced music video cut to the beat.
