How to make a Spotify Canvas
- Upload a video (MP4, MOV or WebM) or an image (JPG or PNG).
- Choose 3, 5 or 8 seconds and slide to the part of the video you want.
- Use the framing slider to keep your artist or the action in view.
- Turn on the player overlay to check that nothing important hides behind the song title and controls.
- Click Create, then download the MP4 and upload it in Spotify for Artists.

Keep the important part in the middle
On the Now Playing screen, Spotify draws the song title, the progress bar and the playback buttons over the bottom of your Canvas, and a small label across the top. Faces, logos and text placed there get covered. The overlay in the preview shows those areas, so you can slide the framing until the subject sits in the clear middle of the frame.
Ideas for your Canvas
- A moment from your music video. The chorus hit or a close-up of the singer makes an instant loop.
- Your cover art, moving. A slow zoom keeps the artwork recognisable and adds just enough motion.
- Live or behind the scenes. A few seconds from the stage or the studio feels personal.
No footage yet? With the AI music video generator you upload the song and one photo of the artist, and AI creates a beat-synced music video. Cut your Canvas from it here.
Private by design
Your video or image is processed on your own device with the browser's built-in media encoder. Nothing is uploaded, so it works with unreleased material too.
