How to Make a Music Video with AI (Step-by-Step Guide)
A great song deserves a great video. But a traditional music video means a crew, locations, a shooting day and days of editing. For most independent artists, that budget simply is not there.
AI changes the math. With AIMusicVideoGen you start with one song and one photo, describe the look you want, and get a finished video where every cut lands on the beat. This guide walks through the whole process and shares the tips that make the biggest difference.
What you need before you start
- Your song as an MP3 or WAV file, up to 30 MB. Use a song you own or are authorized to use.
- A photo of the singer (JPG, PNG or WebP). This is the face the AI keeps consistent across shots.
- Optional: a second person. Add a duet partner or supporting character if the story needs one.
- A rough idea of the mood. One or two sentences is enough.
Step 1: Upload your song
Drop your track into the creator. AIMusicVideoGen reads its length right away and shows the credit cost on the Create button before you commit to anything.
If your song is longer than six minutes, the first six minutes are used. You can choose Standard (768p) or HD (1080p); HD costs twice as many credits for the video part. You can also pick a shorter section, which is perfect for a teaser.
Step 2: Add the singer's photo
Pick a clear, well-lit photo where the face is easy to see. A few things help a lot:
- Face the camera, or close to it.
- Avoid heavy filters, sunglasses and hands covering the face.
- One person per photo. Use the separate "+ Duet" slot for a second person.
Step 3: Describe the video
This is where your creative direction comes in. You do not need to write a script; describe the world, the mood and the camera:
A singer walking through a rain-soaked neon city at night, slow cinematic camera moves, intimate close-ups, reflections in puddles.
Not sure where to start? Tap one of the style presets (Live stage, Cinematic, Dreamlike, Street) and tweak it.
Step 4: Choose a format
Pick the shape of the screen your fans will watch on:
- 9:16 for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts
- 16:9 for YouTube and websites
- 1:1, 4:3 or 3:4 for feeds and other placements
Not sure which one? Read our guide to choosing between vertical and landscape.
Step 5: Create and wait
Press Create. Behind the scenes, the AI:
- Analyzes the beat and structure of your song.
- Writes a storyboard, one shot at a time.
- Generates a first frame for every shot, then animates it into a clip.
- Cuts every clip to the beat and assembles the final video.
A full song usually takes ten minutes or more. You can close the page; the video is saved to your account. If something goes wrong, your credits are returned automatically.
Tips for better results
- Be specific about light and setting. "Golden hour on a rooftop" beats "a nice place".
- Match the energy of the song. Fast cuts and bright color for upbeat tracks; slow moves and soft light for ballads.
- Start with a short section. Try 30 seconds first to test a look before rendering the full song.
- Make two versions. A 9:16 cut for social and a 16:9 cut for YouTube reach different audiences.
