How to Make a Music Video for Your Suno Song (2026 Guide)
Suno makes it possible to write a full song in minutes. The video is where most people get stuck. Suno's own video download is essentially your cover art with the audio underneath, which is fine for sharing a link but will not stop anyone scrolling on TikTok or YouTube.
This guide shows how to get your song out of Suno the right way, what the 2026 download and rights changes mean for you, and how to turn the track into an animated, beat-synced music video.
Step 1: Download your song from Suno
In Suno, open your Library, click the More actions (…) menu on the song, choose Download, and pick a format:
- MP3 is available on every plan and works perfectly for a music video.
- WAV (higher quality) is available on paid plans on suno.com.
Use Suno's own Download button. Suno's terms only grant commercial rights for songs downloaded through its official download feature. Recording the stream or using third-party "Suno downloader" sites does not count.
Mind the download limits
Since September 3, 2026, Suno limits downloads. At the time of writing:
| Suno plan | Downloads | Can you monetize the video? |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 7 trial downloads in total | No, personal and non-commercial use only |
| Pro | 20 per month | Yes |
| Premier | 60 per month | Yes |
Downloading the same song again or in another format does not use up another download. Suno updates these numbers from time to time, so check its help center for the current limits.
Step 2: Check your rights before you post
This is the part most people skip, and it matters if you want to earn money from the video:
- Songs made on the free plan are for personal, non-commercial use. You can share a video with friends, but you cannot monetize it on YouTube or use it in ads. Upgrading later does not change the rights of songs you already made on the free plan.
- Songs made on Pro or Premier can be used commercially, including monetized YouTube videos, as long as you downloaded them through Suno.
- Suno does not guarantee that an AI-generated song can be copyrighted, so avoid promising exclusivity to anyone.
Step 3: Pick the part of the song you need
Suno songs can run up to around 8 minutes. Decide what the video is for:
- TikTok, Reels or Shorts: the hook or chorus, 15 to 60 seconds
- A teaser before release: 30 seconds of the best part
- YouTube: the full song (AIMusicVideoGen handles up to 6 minutes)
For short clips you do not need to trim the file yourself: when you choose a clip length in AIMusicVideoGen, it highlights the most energetic part of the song (usually the chorus) on a waveform. Drag it to pick another part and press Preview to hear it before you create.
Step 4: Give your song a face
A Suno song has a voice but no singer. For a performance video you need a character: a clear, front-facing image of the person who "sings" the song. You can use:
- a photo of yourself, if you are the artist behind the project
- an AI-generated character you created for your artist persona
- artwork you have the rights to use
Keep using the same character across releases. A consistent face is what turns a series of AI songs into a recognizable artist.
Step 5: Turn the song into a music video
With AIMusicVideoGen:
- Upload the MP3 or WAV you downloaded from Suno.
- Upload the character image. Add a second image if the song is a duet.
- Optionally describe the look ("neon city at night", "dreamy beach at sunset"). Leave it blank and the AI follows the song.
- Pick the format: 9:16 for TikTok and Reels, 16:9 for YouTube.
- Choose the length and quality, then click Create.
The AI listens to the song, writes a storyboard, generates the key frames, animates every shot (including lip-sync shots of your character) and edits everything on the beat. Here is a 15-second example made from one photo:
A short clip takes around 10 minutes; a full song takes longer. You can close the page and find the finished video in My videos.
If you only want a quick upload with your cover art, our free audio to video converter makes an MP4 with a still image or an audio visualizer in seconds.
Step 6: Post it
- Label it as AI. YouTube, TikTok and Instagram ask creators to disclose realistic AI-generated content, and being upfront builds trust with listeners.
- Credit the tools in the description if your plan or the platform asks you to.
- Lead with the hook. Start the short version on the strongest line, not the intro.
What about Udio?
As of October 2026, Udio has turned off downloads. Since its settlement with Universal Music Group in late October 2025, new songs stay inside Udio, and its terms limit them to personal, non-commercial use on the platform. Udio has announced a licensed platform, but it had not launched at the time of writing.
In practice, this means you cannot currently take a new Udio song into an outside video tool. Songs you downloaded before the change keep the terms that applied when you downloaded them.
FAQ
Can Suno make a music video? Suno can export a basic video of your song, usually the cover art with the audio. It does not generate a full music video with scenes and a performer.
Can I put a Suno song on YouTube? Yes. On a paid plan you can monetize it; songs made on the free plan are for non-commercial use, so the video should not be monetized.
What file should I download from Suno for a music video? MP3 works well. WAV is slightly higher quality if your plan includes it.
Can I use the same character in every video? Yes, and you should. Upload the same character image each time to keep your artist recognizable.
Is AIMusicVideoGen affiliated with Suno? No. AIMusicVideoGen is an independent tool that works with any audio file you have the right to use, including songs made with Suno.
Suno and Udio details checked in October 2026. Both companies change plans and terms often, so confirm the current rules in their help centers before you publish or monetize.
